6 Key Points To Keep In Mind While Hiring Metaverse Developers

1. Set Up Specific Project Requirements

The first thing you should consider while hiring a metaverse developer is setting up clear and concise project requirements. You should be very clear about your project’s end goal. After you have decided your project goals you should answer the below questions in your notes.

  • What level of experience do you require in developers? (Beginner, Intermediate or Expert)
  • Are you looking to hire a dedicated team or specific developers only?

2. Selecting Engagement Models

There are three common engagement models you can consider to hire metaverse developers:

2.1 Pay-Per-Project/Task Basis Model

As the name suggests, in the pay-per-project/task model, you pay developers based on the completion of specific tasks or projects. Payments are made upon completion, and additional requirements beyond the initial agreement will require additional costs.

2.2 Bucket List Model

The bucket list model allows you to assign developers a fixed number of task hours each month.
For example, if you select a 500-hour bucket each month, you can assign tasks totaling 500 hours, either as a single block or split among multiple developers. Tasks will be assigned and managed in project management or screen recording tools to track time and completion status.

2.3 Hourly Basis/Pay-Per-Hour Model

In the hourly basis model, you have to assign tasks to developers on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

For example, you can assign tasks requiring 8 hours of work each day to developers. They will complete these tasks and share updates to you. All tasks and projects will be managed in tools like Asana, ClickUp to ensure seamless collaboration and transparency.

3. Screening Candidates

The third key point in hiring metaverse developers is screening candidates. While screening candidates you should keep the following things in mind like the experience, expertise, payable cost, time zone, availability and professionalism.

To simplify the screening process you can conduct a test of candidates by assigning them a set of 10-12 short answerable questions to filter out the most suitable ones. This approach will save your time during the screening process.

4. Checking Portfolios

After screening candidates, you should review their portfolios. Consider the following points when evaluating a developer’s portfolio:

  • How many relevant projects they have been a part of in the past.
  • How much time they have taken to complete each project.
  • Number of companies or projects they have been a part of recently.
  • Check if the candidate is updated with the latest industry trends or not.

5. Evaluating Technical Skills

To evaluate the technical skills of developers, check if they have in-depth knowledge of or prior experience with technologies and platforms like Meta, Unity, Unreal Engine, C++, C#, Roblox, or Ethereum.

You can also assign a 2-3 hour task to candidates to identify the perfect fit for your project. Additionally, ask scenario-based questions during virtual interviews to understand their practical knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

6. Communication and Management Abilities

The most important aspect to consider while hiring the ideal candidate is communication and management abilities.

Effective communication skill is a must for developers to collaborate with you and the team, as well as to discuss project goals, challenges, and progress. You should always select a candidate that has communication and management skills.
