Brief

Zombow is a visceral VR survival shooter exclusively built for Meta Quest 2 and 3.  Set against the backdrop of a nerve-wracking undead apocalypse, players find themselves on the frontlines, defending their fortified position.


With every shot drawn, elemental arrows react to physics, enemies evolve in speed and form, and the pressure of survival escalates. From atop a fortified platform, players face relentless waves of grotesque enemies, relying solely on a bow, quiver, and sharp instincts.


Each wave of relentless zombies presents a new challenge, requiring quick reflexes, and sharp strategy. The game’s immersive, heart-pounding moments, adrenaline-fueled combat, and explosive action are put through their paces at an even greater scale and with more visceral intensity to create a truly unforgettable gaming experience.

Zombow was created to fill a void in the VR gaming world for wave shooters that involve elements of skill and replayability. The game stands out by offering tactile, skill-driven archery mechanics that immerse players in a way that few VR games can.


With escalating tension, horror-themed environments, horror-rich visuals, full-body motion, instant session access, and an engaging combat system, Zombow provides both a test of endurance and the satisfaction of mastering a truly unique survival shooter experience.


The game stands out by offering tactile, skill-driven archery mechanics that immerse players in a way that few VR games can. The user-friendly interface allows players to jump in and begin playing immediately, but with a depth that guarantees hours of thrilling gameplay. The strategic use of elemental arrows and the variety of enemies keep players engaged, offering a fresh challenge with each session.

UI/UX (Design)

The interface of Zombow dissolves into the action, letting players react instinctively while staying immersed. Every cue, every visual, every vibration is designed to heighten urgency without breaking focus.

Development

Zombow’s development began with a deep focus to deliver responsive VR combat within a horror-infused environment. The game makes use of Unity’s powerful engine, custom physics for archery, diverse enemy AI, and an advanced backend system to manage streaks and elemental arrows.


Our team implemented a proprietary bow system built around elastic interpolation, simulating physical draw strength and impact tension. Custom shaders drive explosive elemental effects, fire, freeze, poison each triggered by performance-based streaks. Procedural wave systems scale enemy behavior in real-time, demanding tactical adaptation with each level.


The result came out as a VR game that has lag-free experience and is both technically impressive and profoundly engaging.
